By using tiercliff.com you accept these terms. They are deliberately short, because the site is deliberately simple: a calculator that runs in your browser and a set of articles.
What this site is
TierCliff is a free, independent tool that estimates the cost of OpenAI API requests across service tiers, context lengths and reasoning effort levels, and publishes explanatory articles about the same subject. It is provided for planning and comparison purposes.
Accuracy of pricing figures
Token rates, cache rates, long-context multipliers and service-tier multipliers are read from OpenAI's API pricing documentation and carry a verification date, shown in the footer of every page. Prices in this market change frequently, and a figure that was correct on the verification date may not be correct today.
Always confirm a rate against OpenAI's own pricing documentation before you commit a budget to it. The calculator's output is an estimate, not a quotation, and not a guarantee of what OpenAI will charge you.
Effort multipliers are planning assumptions rather than published figures, and are labelled as such throughout the site. The methodology page lists both the assumptions and the figures we have not been able to confirm.

The text, layout and code of this site belong to their author. You may quote from the articles with attribution and a link. You may not republish them in full, or present them as your own.
Product names, model names and trademarks referenced on this site — including GPT, OpenAI and Azure — belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively. Their use does not imply any affiliation, endorsement or sponsorship.
Independence
TierCliff is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI. The site carries display advertising and has no other commercial relationship with the vendor whose prices it discusses. No advertiser has any influence over the recommendations the tool makes or the figures it publishes.

Privacy
The calculator runs entirely in your browser, and the site does not store what you type. What analytics and advertising partners do collect is described on the privacy page.
